Can I open an account for my child?

We get a lot of questions about investing for kids and because we aren’t tax or financial advisers, we can’t give any advice. Our friends at Pivot Wealth wrote a blog that covers many of the big questions, so we’re sharing it here for informational purposes only. Just a reminder the blog is not intended to provide you with personal advice. The information is general in nature and you should consult your own tax or financial advisers before taking any action. Also, we have no referral or sponsorship relationship with the blog author, if you seek further advice from them, we receive no kickbacks or perks. https://pivotwealth.com.au/blog/how-to-invest-for-your-children/

Pearler offers minor accounts where the adult/guardian would be the primary entity. It’s basically a bare trust, where the assets are held in the name of the guardian/adult as trustee for the child. We can help with transferring over to a fresh 18+ account when the time comes when you wish to. This sometimes has tax implications as well. So best to clarify all of this with a tax professional.

Pearler Shares is our CHESS-sponsored product. ASX investments made on Pearler are CHESS-sponsored, which means you are investing directly into the company and your investments will be held in your name and associated with your account's unique HIN (or Holder Identification Number - X followed by a 10-digit number). This then means that you will have direct ownership of each share/ETF and also a direct relationship with their respective share registries.

Pearler Micro (or the Headstart app) is our managed fund product that tracks popular ETFs and allows you to make unlimited contributions (as little as $5 at a time) for a low monthly fee. For more details and important information on the Micro product, please check out the PDS and TMD.
